Zaher is a research data specialist, currently working at the Chancellery of The University of Melbourne in Australia. He is part of a team of brilliant minds working to uplift digital research capabilities and strengthen communities of practice at the university. The team is called Melbourne Data Analytics Platform (MDAP)

Before his current position, he was for five years the lead software engineer at the Interaction Design Lab (IDL) and Microsoft Research Centre for Social Natural User Interfaces (SocialNUI) at the University of Melbourne. He was mainly responsible for building sophisticated, innovative and custom software to support research at the centre.

In 2011, right after finishing his undergraduate degree. He joined IDscan Biometrics when it was newly formed. He was appointed as AI team leader. He led the effort to form a team of software engineers with an AI background to build innovative document scanning and biometrics solutions. His team achieved outstanding results and delivered most of IDscan’s core technologies. IDscan was later acquired by GBG Plc in 2016.

Zaher holds a bachelor degree in computer science with a major in artificial intelligence from The University of Aleppo, Syria, and masters degree from The University of Melbourne, Australia. He also attended as student exchange the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Sweden, and Latrobe University, Australia.

Zaher graduated as the highest ranking student at the University of Aleppo and He received four high academic achievement awards during his undergraduate years.

Zaher is proud recipient of three undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships that enabled him to study abroad: 1- Endeavour Scholarship (Australia), 2- Erasmus Mundus Scholarship (Sweden). 3- AlThuraya Scholarship (Australia).
